The United States has revoked the visa of Colombian President Gustavo Petro after he urged American soldiers to ignore directives from President Donald Trump.
Gatekeepers News reports that Petro made the appeal on Friday while addressing pro-Palestinian demonstrators outside the United Nations headquarters in New York.
During the rally, he advocated for the creation of a global force dedicated to the liberation of Palestine and called on US soldiers to resist involvement in actions he described as harmful to humanity.
Following his remarks, the US State Department condemned the statements and announced the revocation of his visa. Petro, who was in New York for the 80th UN General Assembly, later confirmed his return to Bogotá after the revocation.
Reports also indicated that the US denied entry to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and 80 other Palestinian officials, preventing them from attending the General Assembly.
