Abdullahi Sule has presented Aliyu Wadada to Bola Tinubu as All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate for Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Gatekeepers News reports that the presentation took place on Friday during a meeting at the State House in Abuja, marking a significant step in the party’s early preparations for the next general election cycle.
Governor Sule had earlier endorsed Wadada as his preferred successor, following what he described as extensive consultations with political stakeholders within and outside the state. He explained that the decision emerged after narrowing the field to three strong aspirants before settling on Wadada as the most viable candidate.
According to Sule, the choice was guided by electability and capacity to secure victory for the party. He noted that the selection process was thorough and aimed at ensuring the APC remains competitive in the state.
Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West in the Senate and chairs the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, recently returned to the APC after defecting from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in August 2025.
The move comes as political activities intensify nationwide ahead of the 2027 elections, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) expected to conduct party primaries between April 23 and May 30.
