Keir Starmer Faces Mounting Pressure To Quit As UK Prime Minister

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing growing calls to resign following a wave of internal criticism within Labour Party after poor election performances across parts of the United Kingdom.

Gatekeepers News reports that more than 80 Labour Party lawmakers, including senior government officials, have publicly demanded that Starmer step down or announce a transition plan for new leadership.

The pressure reportedly intensified after Labour suffered major losses in recent local elections in England, Wales, and Scotland, with opposition parties gaining significant ground. Several Labour members accused Starmer of lacking clear direction and failing to reconnect with voters.

Sccordingw to reports, UK safeguarding minister Jess Phillips resigned from her position in protest against Starmer’s leadership style.

Despite the mounting pressure, Starmer has insisted he will not resign. During a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, he reportedly told ministers that abandoning office amid political instability would create further chaos for the country and the Labour Party.

Names such as Andy Burnham and Wes Streeting have already emerged in discussions about possible successors if Starmer eventually steps down.
