A federal high court in Abuja has ordered the final forfeiture of a Hawker 125 private jet linked to alleged fraud, corruption and money laundering surrounding the Maiduguri Emergency Power Project (MEPP) awarded by Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in 2021.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said the aircraft, identified as a Hawker 800XP with registration number 5N-AMK, was forfeited following an application filed before Justice Emeka Nwite of the federal high court in Maitama, Abuja.

According to Dele Oyewale, EFCC spokesperson, the court ruled that Valiente Jet Limited, a company linked to Abdulsalam Mustapha Kachallah, failed to provide sufficient evidence showing that the aircraft was purchased with legitimate funds. The judge reportedly held that the transaction used to acquire the jet was concealed through a bureau de change operator who denied knowledge of the deal.

The anti-graft agency said investigations uncovered allegations of conspiracy, bribery, obtaining money under false pretences and money laundering connected to the MEPP contract. The EFCC added that an interim forfeiture order had earlier been granted in November 2025 before the court approved the final seizure after reviewing submissions from all parties involved.

The latest ruling is part of wider investigations into alleged financial misconduct linked to major NNPCL projects, including the Maiduguri Emergency Power Project, Abuja Independent Power Project and Benin Gas Plant Project.
