Senator Ali Ndume has secured All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Borno South ahead of the 2027 general elections, positioning himself for a potential fifth term in the Senate.

Gatekeepers News reports that Ndume emerged unopposed during the APC primary election held in Maiduguri after his main challenger, Abdullahi Askira, withdrew from the race following consultations with party stakeholders in the district.

Speaking after his emergence, the former Senate leader thanked party elders, delegates and supporters for their confidence in him, pledging to continue representing the interests of Borno South at the National Assembly. He also praised Askira for stepping down in the interest of party unity.

Ndume, who has represented Borno South in the Senate since 2011, said APC members should remain united as preparations continue for the 2027 elections. If re-elected, he will return to the Senate for a record fifth term.
