African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the 2027 general elections in 28 states. The list was released on Friday, September 4, as parties intensify preparations for the elections.
Gatekeepers News reports that the prominent candidates unveiled by the party are Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour for Lagos, Isa Mohammed Ashiru for Kaduna, Great Ogboru for Delta, Ahmad Babba Kaita for Katsina and former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, for Kebbi.
The ADC also named candidates in states including Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.
The party said the candidates would fly its flag in their respective states and described the move as part of its effort to provide Nigerians with what it called “credible leadership and a real alternative.”
ADC National Chairman David Mark has urged the party’s governorship candidates to run issue-based campaigns and avoid hate speech, ethnic or religious profiling, violence and promises they cannot fulfil.
The unveiling comes ADC positions itself as a major opposition platform ahead of the 2027 elections, with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate.
