Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has donated $265,854 to the Federal Government to support the repatriation of 500 Nigerians from South Africa.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement by its spokesperson, Oluwafemi Adeniyi, saying the donation would fund one-way air tickets for the affected Nigerians.
The ministry appreciated the RCCG, led by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, for supporting the government’s efforts to assist Nigerians facing difficult conditions in South Africa.
The repatriation exercise follows renewed concerns over xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks against African migrants in South Africa. The Federal Government has been working with relevant authorities and private organisations to facilitate the return of affected Nigerians.
The ministry said the latest intervention underscores the importance of collaboration between government and faith-based organisations in addressing humanitarian challenges.
