Air Peace Suspends Flights Nationwide Amid NiMET Strike
Air Peace Ltd has suspended all flight operations across the country in response to the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

Gatekeepers News reports that the announcement was made in a statement by Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, the Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace, on Wednesday in Lagos.

In a related post on social media, Ndiulo emphasised the importance of NiMet’s role in providing Current Nowcast of Hazardous Weather (CNH) reports, which are essential for ensuring safe landings, particularly during this period of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

He highlighted that without these critical weather reports from the control tower, the safety of flights could not be assured.

“Due to the ongoing NiMet strike and the unavailability of QNH (hazardous weather) reports required for safe landings, Air Peace has suspended all flight operations nationwide until the strike is over.

“Your safety is our top priority. We appreciate your understanding and will share updates as the situation unfolds.” he said.

Workers of the NiMET began a strike on Wednesday morning in response to poor working conditions. As a result, they shut down weather centres located at airports and halted all meteorological services across the country.

This strike has significantly impacted passengers on local flights, leaving many stranded at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
