President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed heartfelt sympathy to the government and people of Kenya following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President hailed Odinga as a remarkable statesman whose lifelong dedication to democracy, justice, and national unity profoundly shaped Kenya and inspired Africa at large.
Tinubu lauded the late leader’s resilience and commitment to democratic values despite challenges, describing him as a symbol of courage and conviction in the struggle for electoral reforms and the empowerment of citizens.
The president said, “His legacy will endure in the institutions he helped to shape and the democratic ideals he championed. We mourn with Kenya in this moment of national grief and stand in solidarity with you, President William Ruto, as you lead your nation through this painful chapter.”
“May the memory of Raila Odinga continue to guide Kenya towards peace, unity, and progress.”
He further commended Odinga’s global reputation as a Pan-African leader and freedom fighter, noting that his advocacy for inclusive governance and regional cooperation will remain an enduring inspiration for generations across the continent.
