The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has claimed that removing President Bola Tinubu from office in the 2027 elections will be “easier” than the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) historic victory over former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the assertion was made during the inauguration of the party’s new leadership team in Delta State, where former APGA governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru, was formally welcomed into the ADC.

Speaking on behalf of the National Chairman, Senator David Mark, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, said the newly constituted structure had been tasked with aggressive nationwide mobilisation, membership registration and validation. He added that the party would establish ADC offices across states, local governments, wards and polling units.

According to Lawal, the party will also intensify sensitisation efforts to familiarise Nigerians with its ideology and strengthen its position as a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 polls.

Chief Ogboru, addressing party supporters, said the ruling APC has underestimated the level of dissatisfaction among Nigerians.

“They did not know that an obscure party like the ADC would come up to say ‘no’,” he said. “Nigerians and the ADC believe that we must have a democracy. And for that democracy to thrive, there must be an alternative — and the people must decide.”

The ADC’s National Vice Chairman for the South-South, Usani Usani, dismissed suggestions that President Tinubu enjoys a guaranteed path to re-election.

“We have come here to assure you that it is easier to defeat this government than it was to remove Goodluck Jonathan,” he said.

National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi delivered an even more pointed assessment of the political climate, insisting that the ADC remains the only viable opposition platform left standing.

“Anybody who is aware of what is happening in this country today knows that the mission of ADC is to rescue Nigeria,” Abdullahi said.

“All the other parties are dead. Look at what they have done to the PDP, look at what is happening in the Labour Party. The government wants a situation where, by 2027, only the APC is standing.”

He described the ADC as the “last man standing in the opposition” and the final hope of the “common ordinary people.”
