Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that its passport application system will face temporary interruptions due to routine maintenance.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Friday, A.S. Akinlabi, NIS Public Relations Officer, said the maintenance will run from Friday through Sunday.
He explained that during this period, users may experience service interruptions, slow responses, or limited access to some passport services.
The statement added, “The Service kindly requests patience and understanding, as this maintenance is essential to maintain a reliable, secure, and efficient digital passport system.”
Akinlabi added that technical teams are working around the clock to restore full services within the scheduled timeframe.
He advised members of the public needing assistance during the maintenance period to reach out to the NIS support team via social media or the contact centre.
This notice follows a recent NIS initiative to launch temporary complaint-response channels on social media after its previous support accounts were taken down.
Applicants experiencing difficulties with passport or visa processes have been directed to use the temporary X handles @InquireAtNaija, @nigimmigration, and @InquireAtNaija_, as well as NIS Instagram accounts, to ensure uninterrupted engagement.
