NDLEA Seizes Drugs Hidden In Flasks – Snacks – Arrests Agents

Operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered consignments of cocaine and cannabis concealed in everyday items, including food flasks and snack packs, leading to multiple arrests at the Lagos airport.

Gatekeepers News reports that the agency intercepted 12 parcels of cocaine weighing about 2.8kg hidden in the false bottoms of food flasks. The consignment was bound for the United Kingdom through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja.

NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said two cargo agents were arrested at the export shed during the operation, while further investigation led to the arrest of the alleged sender, a freight forwarding agent.

In a separate operation at the same airport, officials also intercepted about 2.9kg of “Loud,” a strong strain of cannabis, concealed inside snack food packs arriving from the United States. Two clearing agents were initially arrested, before the consignee, a Lagos-based fashion designer, was later apprehended.

The agency said the discoveries highlight evolving tactics used by drug traffickers to evade detection, as illegal substances are increasingly hidden in seemingly harmless items.

Beyond Lagos, NDLEA also reported seizures and arrests in several states, including Kaduna, Cross River, and Edo, where large quantities of cannabis were intercepted or destroyed as part of ongoing nationwide operations.
