A Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the bail hearing of former governor Nasir El-Rufai to the first week of June 2026, prolonging his ongoing legal battle over corruption allegations.
Gatekeepers News reports that the adjournment was announced on Tuesday by Justice Darius Khobo during proceedings in Kaduna.
The former Governor was present in court, accompanied by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
El-Rufai is facing multiple charges filed by the ICPC, including allegations of fraud, abuse of office, and financial misconduct linked to his time in office. The case reportedly involves an amended nine-count charge after earlier revisions by the prosecution.
His counsel, Ukpon Akpan, criticised the repeated delays, describing the adjournments as politically motivated and expressing concern over the slow pace of the bail proceedings.
The former Governor has been in ICPC custody since February, although he was briefly released on compassionate grounds following the death of his mother.
He had also secured bail in a separate case at a federal high court, but remains in custody pending the outcome of the current application.
