National Assembly Passes N2.28tn FCT 2026 Budget

The National Assembly has passed the N2.285 trillion 2026 appropriation bill for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Gatekeepers Newreports that the bill passed third reading in both the Senate and the House of Representatives during Thursday’s plenary sessions.

Presenting the report at the House of Representatives, Muktar Betara said the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, defended the budget proposal before the joint committees of the Senate and House of Representatives.

According to the approved breakdown, N165.77 billion was allocated for personnel costs, while N378.23 billion was earmarked for overhead expenses.

The sum of N1.741 trillion was approved for capital projects across the Federal Capital Territory.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives also approved the N1.750 trillion 2026 budget of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The commission’s budget includes N47.57 billion for personnel expenditure and N49.93 billion for overhead costs.

Lawmakers also approved N22.36 billion for internal capital expenditure, while N1.631 trillion was allocated for development projects during the 2026 fiscal year.
