Sulaiman Aledeh has resigned as Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), bringing his leadership of the state-owned broadcaster to an end.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a resignation letter dated May 30, 2026, and addressed to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Aledeh said he was leaving office to concentrate on the next phase of his media career and other personal pursuits outside public service. He stated that his resignation takes immediate effect.
The veteran broadcaster expressed appreciation to Governor Okpebholo for the opportunity to lead one of Edo State’s foremost public media institutions. He described his appointment as both an honour and a privilege, thanking the governor for the confidence reposed in him during his tenure.
Reflecting on his time in office, Aledeh said he was pleased with the progress recorded in repositioning EBS to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving media environment. He noted that the organisation had continued efforts to strengthen its relevance and credibility while serving as a bridge between government and citizens.
The outgoing managing director also acknowledged the support of Edo residents, both within Nigeria and abroad, for their engagement with the station’s activities. According to him, public broadcasting remains essential for promoting information sharing, accountability and civic participation.
Aledeh reserved special praise for the management and staff of EBS, commending their dedication, professionalism and resilience. He said their collective commitment played a key role in advancing the organisation’s vision of becoming a modern and forward-looking broadcasting institution.
While he did not reveal his next destination, Aledeh expressed confidence that EBS would continue to build on its achievements and remain committed to its mandate of serving the people of Edo State.
His departure marks a significant development within the Governor Monday Okpebholo administration and brings to a close a chapter in which EBS pursued reforms aimed at improving its operations and public service delivery.
