Court Revokes Sowore’s Bail Over Failure To Appear For Trial Court Revokes Sowore’s Bail Over Failure To Appear For Trial
Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has revoked the bail granted to the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, following his failure to appear in court for the continuation of his trial.

Gatekeepers News reports that at Tuesday’s proceedings, counsel to the prosecution, Kehinde Akinlolu, informed the court that the defendant was absent despite being aware of the scheduled hearing.

Akinlolu urged the court to revoke Sowore’s bail, arguing that his failure to appear and what he described as repeated attempts to delay the trial justified such action.

In his ruling, Justice Mohammed Umar observed that although Sowore had written to the court requesting an adjournment, the letter did not provide any reason for the request.

The judge subsequently revoked the defendant’s bail and adjourned the matter until June 22 for further hearing.

The development marks a significant turn in the ongoing trial, with the court insisting on the need for the proceedings to continue without undue delays.
