Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has approved the appointment of Anietie Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of Nigeria Police Force, replacing ACP Anthony Placid, who had served in the role since March 2026.
Gatekeepers News reports that the appointment was announced on Friday through a statement issued by the outgoing spokesperson.
According to the police authorities, Iniedu brings extensive operational and administrative experience to the position, having previously headed the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Before his latest appointment, Iniedu served in several strategic positions within the force. His previous assignments include serving as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State; Operations Officer at the Maisandari Division in Yobe State; Area Crime Officer at the Umuahia Area Command in Abia State; Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat; Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, Abuja; and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room.
A native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Iniedu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo. Police authorities expressed confidence that his experience in public communication, operations, and complaint management would strengthen engagement between the force and the public.
The appointment comes under the leadership of Disu, who became Inspector-General of Police earlier this year following his confirmation by the Nigeria Police Council.
Since assuming office, the police chief has overseen a series of leadership changes aimed at repositioning the force and enhancing public confidence in policing.
