Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, has accepted the outcome of the poll and congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election.
Gatekeepers News reports that Oyebamiji announced his position on Saturday while addressing APC leaders, members and supporters in Osogbo, about two weeks after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner.
Adeleke, the Accord candidate, secured 511,067 votes to defeat Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes. The result gave Adeleke a second term as governor of the state.
While congratulating Adeleke, Oyebamiji urged him to protect the lives and property of Osun residents and ensure good governance. He also expressed concern over violence recorded during and after the election, calling on security agencies to investigate the incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
Oyebamiji thanked APC leaders, members and supporters who backed his campaign, including President Bola Tinubu, former APC national chairman Bisi Akande and former Osun governor Gboyega Oyetola.
He said the election defeat was not the end of the road, urging party members to remain united and focused on the future.
The concession comes after Adeleke was declared winner on August 15 and subsequently received his certificate of return from INEC on August 19.
