Two bodies have been recovered from the rubble of a seven-storey building that collapsed Sunday morning in Lekki, Lagos.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said rescue operations are ongoing at the site.
Six people are believed to still be trapped in the rubble.
Permanent Secretary (PS), LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu Director-General Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke – Osanyintolu provided the update in a statement.
It reads: “Situation report on the collapsed building at Oba Idowu Oniru Street beside Ave Maria Hospital.
“The agency responded to a distress call at the above mentioned location and activated its response plan. Upon arrival at the scene, an uncompleted seven-storey building undergoing construction was found to have collapsed.
“Six people are reported to be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed structure. Two bodies have been located and recovered thus far. Operation ongoing.
