A faction of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has announced the suspension of Atiku Abubakar and Babachir Lawal over allegations of causing disunity within the party.

Gatekeepers News reports that the faction’s leadership said the decision followed accusations that the affected individuals were involved in actions that undermined the party’s structure in the state. These include fostering division, creating parallel party structures, and disregarding an existing court order.

The faction stated that the suspension was necessary to restore order and discipline, stressing that no member, regardless of influence or status, is above the party’s constitution.

The development comes amid a deepening leadership crisis within the ADC, especially in Adamawa, where multiple factions are laying claim to the party’s control. The crisis intensified after a coalition takeover of the party leadership in 2025, which has since led to legal battles and internal disputes.

The situation is further complicated by ongoing court cases over the party’s leadership at both state and national levels, with key figures challenging the legitimacy of certain appointments and decisions.
