The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has fixed ₦60 million as the cost of obtaining its presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Gatekeepers News reports that details contained in the party’s official timetable and fee structure released on Tuesday showed that presidential aspirants are expected to pay ₦20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and ₦40 million for the Nomination Form.
The timetable was jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Zwughele, and National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Enenweizu.
The NDC also unveiled a detailed schedule for the conduct of its primaries, including timelines for the sale of forms, screening of aspirants, appeals, and primary elections for all elective positions.
According to the timetable, the sale of Expression of Interest Forms will begin on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and end on Monday, May 18, 2026.
Screening and interviews of aspirants are slated for Tuesday, May 19, to Thursday, May 21, 2026, after which qualified aspirants will proceed to purchase Nomination Forms.
“The party advises all aspirants to attend the screening exercise with all relevant credentials and supporting documents,” the statement said.
The sale of Nomination Forms is scheduled to run from Thursday, May 21, to Saturday, May 23, 2026, while completed forms must be returned on or before Monday, May 25, 2026.
The party added that appeals arising from the screening process would be entertained on May 25 and 26, while primary elections for various elective offices are expected to hold on May 27 and 28, 2026.
According to the schedule, the presidential primary election will take place on Friday, May 29, 2026, in Abuja.
Under the approved fee structure, aspirants seeking seats in State Houses of Assembly are to pay ₦2.5 million, comprising ₦1 million for the Expression of Interest Form and ₦1.5 million for the Nomination Form.
House of Representatives aspirants are expected to pay ₦6 million, Senate aspirants ₦8 million, while governorship aspirants will pay ₦30 million, broken down into ₦10 million for the Expression of Interest Form and ₦20 million for the Nomination Form.
The NDC maintained that its nomination fees remain “among the lowest charged by major political parties in the country.”
The party also announced concessions for certain categories of aspirants. Female aspirants will pay 50 per cent of the approved fees, while persons living with disabilities will pay only 25 per cent across all categories.
In addition, the party said all aspirants would be required to sign an undertaking in line with its guidelines and code of conduct.
The statement further explained that aspirants for State Houses of Assembly would be screened in their respective states, while screening for National Assembly and presidential aspirants would take place at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Governorship primaries, according to the party, will be conducted at the local government level.
“To enhance credibility and internal democracy,” the NDC said it would adopt the open secret ballot system for all its primary elections.
Founded under the guidance of Seriake Dickson, the NDC has recently gained attention as a political platform attracting notable opposition figures.
Among those associated with the movement are Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, both of whom recently aligned with the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party held its inaugural national convention on May 9, 2026, at the Los Angeles Event Centre, where it officially zoned its presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria.
