Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the Accord Party, positioning himself as an alternative candidate ahead of the polls.
Gatekeepers News reports thatHashim, a former presidential candidate and ex-chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), confirmed his move to the Accord Party during political consultations and engagements with supporters across the country.
The declaration gained further attention after prominent Kwara politician Oba Ajara publicly endorsed Hashim’s ambition, describing him as a consistent opposition figure capable of leading Nigeria through economic and political reforms.
Speaking after the endorsement, Hashim said his campaign would focus on national unity, democratic renewal, economic recovery and institutional reforms. He also called for credible electoral processes ahead of the 2027 elections.
In recent weeks, Hashim had urged President Bola Tinubu and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow political parties more time to conduct primaries in line with the Electoral Act, warning that rushed primaries could undermine internal democracy.
