Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of house of representatives, and Benjamin Kalu, deputy speaker, have secured All Progressives Congress (APC) tickets to seek re-election in 2027 house of representatives election.  

Gatekeepers News reports that Abbas emerged unopposed in the APC primary election for the Zaria federal constituency in Kaduna state after polling 930 votes during the exercise conducted on Saturday. Yakubu Hosseini, chairman of the house of representatives primary election committee, said the process followed the constitution and guidelines of the party.  

“Right Honourable Abbas Tajuddeen, having satisfied the requirements of APC Constitution and Guidelines and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and is returned elected as the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Zaria Federal Constituency,” Hosseini said.  

In Abia state, Benjamin Kalu also secured the APC ticket unopposed to represent Bende federal constituency for another term in the national assembly. The primary reportedly took place across the 13 wards in the constituency with party members and stakeholders endorsing his candidacy.  

According to a statement issued by his media office, party leaders and delegates praised Kalu’s legislative performance and constituency projects since his election into the house of representatives.  

Reacting after the exercise, Kalu thanked party members, youths, women groups, and traditional rulers for their support while promising to continue delivering democratic dividends to the constituency.  

The Deputy Speaker reiterated his commitment to delivering more democratic dividends, promoting inclusive governance, and advancing policies that would improve the welfare and economic opportunities of the people of Bende.
