Nigerian content creator and skit maker, Officer Woos, has threatened legal action against individuals and platforms behind viral claims alleging that he was arrested by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for drug trafficking.
Gatekeepers News reports that the comedian, whose real name is Jubril Oladapo Gbadamosi, dismissed the allegations as false and defamatory after social media posts claimed he had been arrested for allegedly importing cocaine-laced bread and brownies from Mexico.
In a statement issued through his lawyers, Versed Attorneys, Officer Woos denied ever being arrested, investigated or charged in connection with any drug-related offence. The legal team described the reports as a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation and mislead the public.
The lawyers demanded an immediate retraction of the publications and a public apology from those responsible within 48 hours. They warned that failure to comply would result in civil lawsuits for defamation as well as petitions to relevant law enforcement and regulatory authorities.
According to the statement, the skit maker also refuted another circulating claim that he had announced the death of a colleague on his social media platforms, insisting that the allegation was completely fabricated.
Officer Woos further authorised his legal representatives to pursue legal remedies against any individual, page or platform that continues to publish, repost or amplify the claims.
Reacting to the controversy on Instagram, the comedian maintained that the allegations were baseless and would be addressed through appropriate legal channels.
“The claims are entirely false, fabricated, and without basis. This will be handled through the appropriate legal channels. Thank you for your understanding,” he said.
