Police Nab 33 Suspects Over Kwara Church Kidnap Attack

The Nigerian Police Force has arrested 33 suspects linked to the abduction of worshippers during a violent attack on a church in Kwara State, intensifying efforts to dismantle criminal networks behind mass kidnappings.

Gatekeepers News reports that according to police spokesperson Anthony Placid, the suspects are members of a larger syndicate involved in terrorism, kidnapping, and armed robbery.

Their arrest followed coordinated intelligence-led operations carried out across multiple locations in Kwara and neighbouring Kogi State.

The arrests are connected to the November 2025 attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, where gunmen stormed a service, killed at least three worshippers, and abducted 38 others, including the pastor.

Police said the suspects are part of about 50 individuals recently apprehended in a broader crackdown targeting criminal groups threatening national security.

Several of those arrested are expected to face prosecution soon, while security operatives continue to track down fleeing accomplices.

Authorities also recovered a cache of weapons during the operations, including rifles, ammunition, communication devices, and other military-grade equipment, indicating the scale and sophistication of the network.
