Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, one of the presidential aspirants of African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced that he will boycott the official declaration of the party’s presidential primary results over alleged irregularities in the exercise.
Gatekeepers News reports that Hayatu-Deen accused some party officials of manipulating the process and claimed there were incidents of vote rigging in several states during the primary election.
He said he would not participate in what he described as a compromised process and added that consultations were ongoing on the next line of action.
The ADC primary featured a contest among Hayatu-Deen, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi. Early results reportedly showed Atiku leading in a number of states before tensions escalated within the party.
Despite the allegations, party officials maintained that the primary election was transparent and credible, insisting that the result announcement would proceed as scheduled in Abuja.
The development has further heightened concerns over possible internal divisions within the opposition party ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
