Nigeria’s Labour Party has released its timetable for the 2027 general elections, fixing May 29, 2026, for its presidential primary.
Gatekeepers News reports that the party outlined a comprehensive schedule covering the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, appeals, and the conduct of primaries.
The timetable shows that primaries will be conducted in phases, with House of Assembly and governorship primaries slated for May 27, while National Assembly and presidential primaries will hold on May 29, 2026.
The party also announced that the sale of nomination forms will begin on May 6 and end on May 16, while submission of completed forms is scheduled for May 17 and 18. Screening exercises are fixed for May 20 for state-level positions and May 22 for National Assembly and presidential aspirants, with results to be released on May 23.
Appeals arising from the screening process will be handled between May 24 and May 25, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be published on May 26 ahead of the primaries.
In addition, the party pegged its presidential nomination and expression of interest forms at a total of ₦50 million. It also introduced concessions for women, youths aged 25 to 30, and persons living with disabilities, who will only pay for expression of interest forms.
LP said the timetable aligns with Nigeria’s electoral laws and the schedule released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as it begins early preparations for the 2027 general elections.
