Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has emerged as All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua federal constituency in Katsina state after winning the party’s primary election.
Gatekeepers News reports that Yusuf defeated Auwalu Musa Daura, son of former Department of State Services (DSS) director-general Lawal Daura, in the keenly contested exercise held on Saturday. Party officials announced that Yusuf secured a landslide victory in the primary.
Announcing the results, the returning officer declared Yusuf Buhari the APC flagbearer for the constituency ahead of the 2027 general election. The primary attracted attention within and outside Katsina because of the political influence associated with both families involved in the contest.
In his acceptance speech, Yusuf thanked party delegates, leaders, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.
“I wish to sincerely thank the delegates, party leaders, stakeholders, and the good people of Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency for the overwhelming confidence and support,” he said.
He also pledged to unite party members and work towards victory for the APC in the general elections.
“I will embrace everyone and carry all party members along to ensure that APC emerges victorious in the general elections,” Yusuf added.
